Update on the month of May

The month of May went by so quickly! Joseph is now 5 weeks old which is sometimes hard for me to believe. He loves to eat, still sleeps most of the time, hardly ever cries, and is growing like a weed! At his 4-week checkup they said he was perfect and he is now 9 lbs. 10 oz. and 21.5 inches long. He's in the 50% of height and weight, so perfectly average for right now.

We had a visit from our friend Amber who we've known since James and I were both single in North Carolina. It was a lot of fun. Elise loved the extra attention and showed off all of her skills. Amber heard all the alphabet letters and all of Elise's animal sounds. We had a good time.

For Memorial Day weekend we took a trip to North Carolina to let Joseph meet all of James' family down there. It was good to see everyone. Joseph and Elise were spoiled with all the attention. Elise loves stairs, and like always, LOVED climbing up and down the main staircase of Maribel's house where we stayed. She climbed up and down for hours. One morning I woke up to find her asleep at the top of the stairs. She must have woken up during the night and found her way there. I'm just glad she didn't roll over!

Other than that, we've just been enjoying having a new baby at home. Elise is a good big sister and loves kissing the baby. She also loves pointing out all of his body parts (eyes, ears, nose, belly, elbow...the list goes on!)

Elise insisted on helping me hold Joseph one afternoon before her nap and then promptly fell asleep.

Adorable baby booties made by my amazing sister Ann. Aren't they cute?

Joseph's first real bath after his belly button healed up. He LOVES the water and getting his hair washed.

Elise discovered the joy of licking the spoon after I made rice crispy treats one day...

Playing with cousins outside in North Carolina.

Joseph and Elise playing together on the blanket at home. Elise loved to help him play with his toys.

Yesterday we took the kids to the local aquarium to see all the big fish. Elise loved it. She even had a big sea turtle swim right over to say hello. Joseph was just along for the ride. He liked some of the bright lights but mainly just snoozed in the stroller.
Elise, Joseph and Julie in front of one of the fish tanks. It was fun, but the kids were tired by the end of the night!
